CARING FOR PLANET EARTH – UNWRAPPING OUR CARDS
Much has been written about the detrimental effects that excess use of plastic can potentially have on the environment. At Great British Cards, we have followed the debate very carefully, and have concluded that it is our responsibility as a business to help safeguard the future of the planet: thus we have decided that moving forward, we will be unwrapping our cards.
To assist all our retailers and their customers, we are supplying in-store signage so everyone can understand our motivation behind this initiative during the transition phase.
RESPONSIBILY SOURCED PAPER & BOARD
All the boards and papers we use in the manufacture of our cards and stationery products use material approved by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC). This provides a standard setting and trademark assurance that all raw material has been sourced from well-managed, sustainable forests with a documented, unbroken supply chain.
AT GLOUCESTER – RECYCLING NOW AT 89%
At our main office and warehouse facility on the southern outskirts of the city of Gloucester, we have a full programme of recycling initiatives, working closely with local business partner, Smiths, to find the most effective ways to manage our waste.
All paper and cardboard, plastics, shrink film and pallet wrap, aluminium cans and all customer product returns are disposed of via controlled and effective recycling methods, leading to a charted recycled volume of nearly 90% within the business.
